Acne Tips – What’s the Lowdown on Acne?
Okay, so you’ve made the first move in curing your acne by looking for some acne tips online. But here’s the problem. With so many different resources, ideas, arguments, scientific facts and websites out there with different views on acne, where do you get started?
What acne tips really work?
This page is my boiled down guide to getting started treating your acne. That means, no BS!
I’m tired of hearing bad advice on the subject. I’m sure you are too. So these acne tips are only taken from reputable resources.
Can you clear your skin with a few good acne tips?
Truth be told, most people will not get their acne fully cured without getting a real plan for treating it or getting some sort of product or service to strengthen their skin. If your skin is very profoundly affected by acne, you need an extra edge more so than the average person to keep your skin clean. Just washing and avoiding certain foods and environmental factors really isn’t good enough. You need a solid game plan!
You need to know more than just one or two strategies for healing acne!
That said, acne tips are a great place to start. You need to know the basics when you first begin so you can start building a new plan to treat your acne and get a more acne free lifestyle in less time and with less effort. If you don’t do this, you will end up wandering from one joke product to the next or following a bunch of dumb acne myths around until your head is spinning and your skin still isn’t clear. So let’s get started!
My Top 5 Acne Tips!
Acne Tip 1: Clean Twice per Day Using Steam
Steam is one of the most effective natural acne treatments available in your home. You see, your pores tend to build up a lot of dirt. When this dirt becomes infected, that’s when you end up with acne. It can be a problematic situation seeing as how the dirt is often deep under the surface of the skin in the pores.
So the question is, how do you get into the pores and clean up the skin?
The answer is steam!
Steam is a natural exfoliate used at day spas all around the world that works to relax the muscles of the skin and as a result, open up pores and allow skin to “breathe”. This makes it very easy to get water and soap deep under the pores and clean up the acne at the root of the problem: the pores!
So, my acne tip for this one is this:
Wash your face twice per day using soap and acne products
Be sure you are using steam to open the pores!
You can get steam onto your skin by washing right after you get out of the shower. You can also turn on a faucet and run very hot water until the bottom of the sink is filled up. You then want to put your face just a few inches from the water as you’re washing. Just be careful not to burn yourself!
Acne Tip 2: Avoid High Glycemic Foods
Now you might be asking yourself, why exactly are high glycemic foods so gosh danged bad for you when it comes to acne? Sure, you are probably familiar with how high glycemic food is linked to increased body fat and overall lower levels of health and fitness, but when it comes to acne, some people are totally unaware how much of a factor this is. Let me explain
Insulin is a huge acne irritant!
There are a lot of things that might irritate your skin and increase symptoms. Among them are stress and excessive exposure to water and dirt. But did you know insulin is a big one too?
It’s true! Insulin can actually increase the production of your sebaceous glands, which are responsible for maintaining the oils on your skin. And since insulin is a hormone that increases when you eat high glycemic foods to store the excess blood sugar, that causes a reaction in your skin.
So, bottom line! Avoid the bread, sugar and rice and your skin will thank you for it!
Acne Tip 3: Use Natural Products
If you are going to put any sort of product on your face to improve your skin tone and alleviate acne symptoms, the best thing you can do is use natural products.
Why are natural products better?
With natural acne treatment and products, you are not taking the risk of getting any unwanted side effects. Typically, the more synthetic a product is, the more likely you are to have a nasty reaction to it. This is really important to keep in mind when you are debating whether or not to use steroid base creams.
Just remember, if you have mild to moderate acne, it just isn’t worth the risk of side effects! Only people with severe acne should even consider taking anything but natural products to clean up their skin.
And be sure to consult a doctor before even thinking about taking anything, but especially powerful medication.
Acne Tip 4: Keep a Low Stress Level
Stress sure can be a pain in the butt!
We all know the most basic ways to alleviate stress, but a lot of times people don’t realize just how profoundly linked together acne is with stress. People get in a lot of trouble by worrying about their job, family and school without allowing themselves any time to breathe. this is a recipe for disaster if you’re trying to treat your acne.
So, the place to move forward from here is to consider your life and your actions while managing all the things that go on from one day to another. If you have zero time for yourself and your family, perhaps you need to accommodate a friendlier lifestyle? Here are some tips to lower your stress level…
- 1. Get some exercise. This is super critical. Your body builds up hormones that cause stress if you don’t exercise
- 2. Get plenty of sleep. This one is obvious. Aim for 8 hours of sleep per night
- 3. Get some time for you every day. Watch a movie, spend time with someone you love. It doesn’t matter, just live your life a bit!
Acne Tip 5: Stick to Safe Cosmetics
When it comes to making sure you are preventing an additional inflammation as a result of what your skin is exposed to, cosmetics are one of the areas you NEED to be mindful of! Truth be told, this is a dangerous industry if you have acne or sensitive skin.
Now this advice mainly concerns women, but men should be mindful too. After all, those fancy colognes, body sprays and after shaves you put on are also technically classified as cosmetic and can be harmful for your skin. It’s a bad idea to go in without knowing the facts about what you’re using!
What to look for with safe cosmetics…
When you’re looking for safe cosmetics, you need to be analyzing the labels and look for terms like natural, safe and hypo allergenic. These terms are usually a good indication that whatever you are using doesn’t contain anything that might irritate your skin and cause problems later on down the road. Keep this in mind before using strange products!
